Ridiculous!

To believe or not to believe doesnt seem to be the dilemma.To look for the logic or blindly believe in certain things have always been the problem.I'm 19 and what happened this summer was bound to happen at some point of time.

Not more than a couple of weeks ago I was in Tamil Nadu...on my vacation and not even an ounce of what I learnt back there, I could have possibly imagined...ever!

It is pretty open that our generation has never really understood the age old superstitions and have had their share of fun in going around questioning them.

And we'd be surprised to know that the strong[and blind] beliefs don't just stop at superstitions.

The scope of these beliefs stretch beyond any of our thinking and as they go deeper and deeper they only manage to ridicule me.

Now all of us know how certain things work in India and probably how they work in that unique [and horrific] way only in India.

Talking about one such thing to an uncle of mine I was shocked out of my wits to know about certain .Airquote open. Rituals .Airquote close. followed incase of any marriage [obviously arranged]..

Now, we've known our very own filmy version boy-meets-girl-fall in love-parent rivalry-lover kids go  against them-beat the odds and eventually win- happies endings!!!

Infact, things are even more rosier without the rivalry melodrama but lets have a reality check right there!...

Airqoute open. Mere Love Airqoute close. can't lead to the holy matrimony. It takes a lot Airqoute open.compatibility Airqoute close. and if you think you can marry me just because you love the same color as I do and have the same music tastes and every thing else, then you are in for a heart break because just these won't let you marry me..infact, these are not even compatibilities.

And if you are surprised-shocked-confused-all of these at the same time now,I wouldn't blame you and if you aren't there is a lot more to come but beleive me, it ain't for the faint hearted!

So here enter the AIRQUOTES OPEN. STARS. AIRQUOTES CLOSE.

These are supposed to control every single action of our lives...every single freaking action...

And for two people to be married there has to be some sort of a compatibility in both their respective stars.

Supposedly, around 7 tests of compatiblity are carried out with the so called stars of the two people and only if around 5 of them give positive results the marriage is on..or its just finished.

I'm not going into the detail of the few tests I learned about for I donot want to shock an otherwise strong section of people...

So basically before I can fall in love with you, I need to check on our compatability.

On a serious note, the reason why I found this concept unusually ridiculous is its devastating nature..

As long as it is giving favourable results it is acceptable but then, it also has the capability to ruin lives and with that trait it obviously won't go well with apna generation specially because it lacks a logic!...

But as much as I detest it, its going to go on forever and ever and even if my great grand children get ignited by this very post of mine, they can't manage to get rid of it and my next post will tell you why...

****P.S::: I was totally shocked when I learnt all this and had to talk it out to people of "my generation"...and decided that I'll write about it if I get at least 1 similar view...

Keerthi stayed diplomatic and eventually after the convo she could only manage to say "it may exist or it may not"...Bharat being my .Airquotes Open. BEST FRIEND .Airquotes Close. gave me a few scientific reasons to all this and made me look even more ridiculous and that's probably when I dropped the idea of writing about it but I still managed to talk to Sushmita about it and that's when and where I got my similar view and hence today Im blogging about it...should have gone by what she says..on how I should have asked her about it long long ago..

I probably can't prove my point on how I feel it doesn't exist, but the fact is that they are just illusions and non-existent beliefs and for me to change my stance, I need the LOGIC behind it!!
